Little Bud Farm is a vegetable and flower garden located at 930 13th Ave in the town of Grinnell, all tended by hand by the Hexter family — Tommy, Jon, and Carolyn. Growing vegetables and cut flowers to share with our community has been in the family since the 1940s, and we just moved to Grinnell as a family in July 2019.

Our practices always involve trying to get back in touch with the closed loop cycles of the natural world. We collect compost from several area food providers and lots of neighbors and enjoy turning it regularly to make rich, nutrient-dense soil to grow the best possible produce and flowers we can. The “Little Bud” in our farm name signifies the new growth we experience as we participate in nature’s cycles.
