Swiss Chard is a leafy vegetable that can be enjoyed much like spinach or kale. It is a fun and colorful addition to any meal. All produce is 100% homegrown on our farm. We believe in improving the soil quality through mindful crop rotation, the use of cover crops and fertilizing with composted manure. We manage all of our weeds through cultivation and fire. Our fertilization plan involves no sprays. Instead we work to manage the quality of our soil. Our goal for 2023 is to raise at least 90% of our own plants from seed to harvest. We do not have organic or natural certifications for our produce, however, you are welcome to follow us on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram to see our practices. Tea for Two soaps are inspired by tea lovers of all sorts. They include matcha and Earl Grey teas. They are scented with bergamot and mint essential oils and topped with tea leaves as well as a blend of herbal tea leaves and dried flowers. Our goat milk soaps include milk from our herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats. Nigerian Dwarf goats produce high amounts of milk for their small stature, and their milk is higher in butterfat than most other dairy goat breeds. Our goats average between 6-9% butterfat. We know because we have milk samples tested monthly. Tea for Two goat milk soap bars also include saponified oils of coconut, sunflower, rice bran, olive and castor. They're scented with essential oils. The bars are layered with charcoal, French green clay, matcha tea and topped with Earl Grey and herbal teas with dried calendula and roses from our farm. Bars average 4.5oz Soaps are handmade in small batches. Please allow for variations. Our Deer Park bar soaps include goat milk from our herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats and locally sourced deer tallow. Nigerian Dwarf goats produce high amounts of milk for their size, and the milk is higher in butterfat than most other dairy goat breeds. It makes lovely soap. Our family farm in southern Poweshiek county includes an area that we have always known as the "Deer Park." My great grandfather built tall fences around the area to raise deer. He purchased Whited-tailed deer from the Lincoln Zoo in Chicago in 1913, and they arrived in Grinnell by train. He was a stockman who raised cattle, and this was his venture into venison. Knowing how deer can jump, I like to believe that he helped to launch the White-tailed deer population in our area to what it is today, which is very strong. Today still, large populations of deer find refuge in the Deer Park. These bars average 4.5oz. The edge of the bar has the look of bark and it's colored with cocoa powder. The rest of the bar is dyed a greenish tint with spirulina powder. The essential oil blend of cedar and pine gives a mild woodsy vibe. Our soaps are handmade in small batches, so please allow for variations. Our turkeys are Black Spanish and Narragansett turkeys that we pasture raise in movable pens for predator protection on our farm. They spend the day foraging for plants and insects. When processed, you will have a turkey that is equal parts breast meat to dark meat. The birds have plenty of room to move around and develop wonderful muscling. We have a variety of weights that you may choose from, with the final cost determined by the final weight of the bird. We have them processed at a federally inspected plant and you will receive a frozen, heritage turkey for your enjoyment.
